Principal's Welcome

Dear Visitor to Christian Brothers Academy: Brother James Butler, FSC.

On behalf of our expert and dedicated faculty, coaches, staff,  and our new President, Brother Frank Byrne, F.S.C. '75, welcome to the CBA website.  We are glad you have taken time to visit us here at www.cbalincroftnj.org and hope you will return often.

Let me extend a special welcome to two particular groups.  The first is our proud “stable” of Colt alumni.  It’s a fact that many Catholic high school graduates will look at their alma mater, shake their heads sadly and observe: “Not the school I went to.”  I am proud to tell you that is not the case here.  Although curricular initiatives and innovations are on-going, our values are timeless. We are still in the same business: forming Academy Gentlemen: capable and compassionate, grounded in the Catholic faith and faithful to the legacy of St. John Baptist de La Salle.

The second group I wish to greet are prospective parents and students.  Some adult visitors to this site will be new to Monmouth County; others will be life-long residents who grew up with first-hand knowledge of the Academy and what it stands for.  In either case, let me assure you that when a qualified student chooses Christian Brothers, he will make a life-changing decision.  The boy who enters as a freshman will leave as a man formed by the “human and Christian education” that is the exclusive apostolate of the De La Salle Christian Brothers and their associates in Mission.  Not only will he be possessed of a disciplined intellect and sound practical skills. He will be solid in his faith, strong in service to the unfortunate, and capable of lasting bonds of friendship.

Independent schools can make many promises when inviting families to consider their particular institution.  I could note, for example, the almost 23.7 million dollars worth of academic scholarships our last graduating class obtained, acceptances to top-tier schools, Ivy League, Catholic, and public research universities alike.  I could count the thousands of hours of service beyond the minimum requirements our students tally annually or the numerous athletic championships won, Shore Conference, divisional, parochial, and even state-wide (two in the 2009-10 academic year)

But I will only make one promise.  If you entrust your son to the Christian Brothers Academy community, you will be unspeakably proud of the man he becomes.

Please feel free to visit us often, whether on the web or on Newman Springs Road.  I look forward to welcoming you!

Fraternally,

Brother James Butler, F.S.C.
