The Freshman and Junior Varsity cross country season’s have ended with great success! Both the Freshman and Junior Varsity teams won the Shore Conference and New Jersey Catholic Track Conference.
The Shore Conference championships were held at Ocean County Park on Wednesday, November 1, 2006. The Junior Varsity won the Shore Conference, with 18 points and 21 seconds a man over Toms River North. Chris LaMorte propelled the JV to victory with a first place finish of 17:00. The rest of the JV top five included Taylor Zorski (17:03), Kyle Havard (17:11), Patrick Harms (17:18), and Brendan Swan (17:20). The freshman had great success as the A team placed first and the B team third. The freshman had first and second place finishes from Ray Bogan (11:02) and Mark Lee (11:02). Dan Bailey (11:20), Jordan Rizzo (11:24), and Greg Bellino (11:25) rounded out their top five. The freshman beat Manasquan by 25 seconds a man. CBA looks like they will be a threat to the Shore Conference next year.
At Warinanco Park in Elizabeth, NJ, the New Jersey Catholic Track Conference (NJCTC) Championships took place on November 4, 2006. The Freshman and Junior Varsity squads took first place in this state championship meet. The JV also placed first with 27 points, followed by Pope John XXIII with 47 points. Taylor Zorski scored first place (17:27), third Brendan Swan (17:31), fourth Patrick Harms (17:42), sixth Gregg Donnelly (17:46), and thirteenth Kyle Havard (18:10). The JV looked strong and finished the season on a good note. The Freshman prevailed in a close race against Don Bosco, whose team average was only 4 seconds behind the Colt’s. The final score was 42 to 50. CBA’s B team took third place with 107 points. Mark Lee placed 2nd in 12:27, Ray Bogan took 4th in 12:36, followed by Ban Bailey in 9th (12:46), Jordan Rizzo in 13th (12:52), Rich Bohny in 14th (12:56), John McLaughlin in 16th (12:58), and Greg Bellino in 18th (12:59).
The Colt’s underclassman had a very good cross-country season. Look out for these names next year as some of the top XC runners. Congratulations guys!
