Memorial and Tribute Program

The Memorial and Tribute Program provides the CBA community with various opportunities to express their respect for individual Brothers, faculty, alumni and their families, or others. Honoring loved ones, living or deceased, through this program is an eloquent affirmation of the values held by these individuals, and offers a lasting alternative to conventional expressions of sympathy or well wishes.

You may wish to consider the following opportunities to memorialize or honor someone close to you:

In Memoriam Listings

The names of recently deceased alumni, faculty, and alumni and student family members are listed on the In Memoriam page of CBA Today, the magazine published twice yearly for alumni, current families and benefactors.

In addition, the Office of the President uses CBA’s email notification system to provide alumni with timely information on funeral arrangements for deceased classmates.

If the death of a loved one will not be announced in a local obituary, you may wish to convey this information by phone, (732) 747-1959, ext 213, or email, alumni@cbalincroftnj.org.

Annual Memorial Mass

Alumni and current student families receive invitations to the annual Memorial Mass each November, to remember in prayer Brothers, faculty, alumni and family members deceased during the preceding year. Please contact the Office of the President at (732) 747-1959 ext. 213, or alumni@cbalincroftnj.org, to report or update records for the deceased.

Daily Mass Intentions

The families of alumni, parents and friends may make arrangements at any time to have a deceased loved one remembered in one of the Masses celebrated in the school chapel at 7:45 am on most regular school days. To make these arrangements, please call the Alumni Office (732) 747-1959, ext 214.

Memorial Gifts

Christian Brothers Academy gratefully accepts gifts made in memory of deceased individuals. Memorial gifts in any amount are acknowledged with a personal letter to the family of the deceased, providing them with the name and address of the donor (although the monetary amount of the gift is not specified). The donor receives a gift receipt documenting the gift amount for his or her tax records.

All memorial gifts are recognized in the Christian Brothers Academy Annual Report, which lists both the donors’ names and the names of the deceased individuals honored by their gifts.

  • To make a memorial gift, use the Additional Information box on the Secure Online or mail-in Gift Form to provide the name of the deceased, and the name(s) and address(es) of the family members who should be informed of the gift.

Gifts in Lieu of Flowers

It may be appropriate to remember a loved one by requesting that “in lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Christian Brothers Academy, 850 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738.”

Although it is not required, it would be helpful to notify CBA when such gifts may be expected. Please call (732) 747-1959 ext. 213, or email alumni@cbalincroftnj.org.

Memorial Plaque Gifts

At any time, a gift or series of gifts may be contributed to Christian Brothers Academy for the name of the deceased to be added to the Memorial Wall near the entrance to the school Chapel.

In order for a memorial plaque to be made and installed, gifts in memory of a loved one should collectively total $1,000 or more. Contributions earmarked for named gifts and endowed memorial scholarships will also initiate the addition of a plaque to the Memorial Wall.

Tribute Gifts to Honor Living Individuals

CBA gratefully accepts gifts in honor of graduations, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, births and the like. Honorees or their families receive a letter informing them of the gift (although the monetary amount of the gift is not specified) and the donor’s name and address. Donors receive a gift receipt documenting the gift amount for their tax records.

  • To make a tribute gift, use the Additional Information box on the Secure Online or mail-in Gift Form to indicate the occasion for your gift (graduation, wedding, birth, etc.) and provide the name and address of the honoree. If you would like your gift to be made known to individuals other than the honoree (such as the parents of newly-weds, etc.), please provide the necessary name and address.

Named Memorial and Tribute Gifts

With a special gift to Christian Brothers Academy, you can create a lasting tribute to a loved one, ensuring that their name will remain a part of the CBA community forever.

Naming opportunities begin at $10,000 and may include educational programs, permanent equipment or facilities, or a more personal project that may have special meaning for the person you wish to honor.

For more information on arranging named memorial and tribute gifts, please contact Bill Attardi, Senior Director of Advancement at (732) 747-1959 ext. 223 or wattardi@cbalincroftnj.org.

Named Memorial Scholarship Endowment Funds

Scholarship endowments provide important financial support for academically-qualified students who could not otherwise afford a Christian Brothers Academy education. The establishment of a memorial scholarship endowment creates a lasting legacy for your loved one at CBA and ensures that valuable scholarship aid will continue to be available for future generations of deserving students.

The minimum gift amount to establish an endowed memorial scholarship fund is $25,000. The principal balance will be held in perpetuity, and the annual interest income will be expended in accordance with guidelines approved by the Christian Brothers Academy Board of Trustees.

For more information on how to establish an endowed memorial scholarship, please contact Bill Attardi at (732) 747-1959 ext. 223 or wattardi@cbalincroftnj.org.
