Mission & Tradition
CHARACTER. BROTHERHOOD. ACHIEVEMENT.

Christian Brothers Academy has a long-standing tradition of athletic excellence and is considered to have one of the top high school sports programs in New Jersey.
Dating back to the school’s first state championship in 1965 with basketball, the Colts have won over 180 state titles and over 230 conference championships, making CBA one of the most storied athletic programs in the shore and the state.
The CBA Athletic Department, which is comprised of over 600 student-athletes, is a valuable dimension of the mission to educate the whole person– mind, body and spirit–and it provides opportunities for students to compete successfully and with pride. Student athletes learn to compete with character and to handle any outcome with class. Long after the score is forgotten, the behavior of athletes, coaches, and fans will be remembered.
In staying true to the Lasallian principles of educating the mind, body, and spirit, athletics play a critical role in molding well-rounded young men who are prepared for college and the world that lies beyond.
Our administration, faculty and coaches understand how influential athletics can be in a young man’s development, as well as the lasting impact it can have on his personal and professional life.
Athletics, especially at a unique institution like CBA, can be an effective vehicle that not only reinforces the mission of our institution, but proudly displays and advances it.
