CBA Debuts New Financial Lab with Bloomberg Terminals

Wall Street has arrived on Newman Springs Road. Christian Brothers Academy students returned this year with several state-of-the-art changes around campus, adding to the buzz of the new school year.
Perhaps the most anticipated is the Bloomberg Financial Lab, equipped with 11 terminals in the business and technology wing of the Lincroft campus.
CBA’s commitment to providing students with a contemporary and balanced education led the school administration and faculty to develop new elective programming debuting this fall. Business and Finance are two of the leading academic majors of CBA graduates making it a logical conclusion to expand the school’s business curriculum, which now include courses in Business Ethics, Marketing, Project Management, Business Decision Making, and Bloomberg Certification.
The Bloomberg Financial Lab is the most visible aspect of this enhanced business curriculum. The lab and corresponding software provide students access and the ability to analyze financial markets, access economic scenarios, interpret key news and developments affecting the global economy, and have all this information in real-time.
The hands-on learning experience comes with the case studies available through the software and analytic opportunities to dive into data will enable students to create portfolios, present as though speaking to business partners and develop financial strategies to benefit their company best.
Slater Richardson, CBA Class of 2015, is the man behind the Bloomberg Certification Class, a subject he didn’t have the opportunity to be exposed to until college. He shared that the buzz among the students in the class has been palpable as they embrace this unique opportunity.
“These courses will culminate in the opportunity for students to apply their knowledge and skills using the powerful Bloomberg Terminals while earning Bloomberg certification,” Richardson says.
Adding technology and curriculum that is traditionally reserved for college campuses further emphasizes the Academy’s commitment to preparing students for both their collegiate studies and career paths. Learning real world market ready skills will go a long way in preparing students for success beyond the halls of CBA.
