CBA FAITHFUL ENJOY BROTHER ANDREW GOLF OUTING

If there was one thing that Brother Andrew O’Gara loved just as much as Christian Brothers Academy, it was the game of golf. After all, he was named the high school “Coach of the Decade” in the 1980’s for his passionate work with the CBA varsity golf team.

On Monday, CBA alumni, donors and friends enjoyed the annual Brother Andrew O’Gara Golf Outing at Metedeconk National Golf Course in Jackson, which donates all proceeds to funding tuition assistance for current and future Academy students.

The golf outing is an opportunity for the CBA community to honor a man who was instrumental to so many CBA students’ lives and helped build the Academy into what it is today. The annual event helps continue Brother Andrew’s good work by funding financial aid to allow deserving young men to experience all that CBA has to offer.

The event, organized by the CBA Fathers’ Club, features an early lunch before a shot gun start, followed by a cocktail reception and dinner after golf. This year’s honorary chairperson was Brian O’Malley, father of two CBA alumni and CEO of Domino Sugar.

“This year’s Brother Andrew Golf Outing was our largest to date,” President Brother Frank Byrne said. “We had 150 golfers spread out over the 27 holes at Metedeconk. Our Honorary Chair, Brian O’Malley, and our Golf Committee of the Fathers’ Club did an excellent job in making this year’s event a great success.”

At the end of the afternoon, John Doehner, Rob Doehner, Charlie Boeddinghause and Buddy Jaronko was the gross winning foursome, while Peter Murray, Glen Morello, Robert Wojczak and Brian Conlin were the callaway winning foursome.
