Class of 1968 Celebrates 50th Reunion

Fifty years ago, the nine-year-old Christian Brothers Academy graduated its sixth class, the Class of 1968.

Last week, those men returned to the Academy to celebrate their 50th reunion by attending the commencement ceremony of the Class of 2018 and enjoying a dinner & dance on Friday evening.

On Thursday night, over 20 alumni from 1968 received a special welcome at the commencement, where they also handed out challenge coins to the 2018 graduates. A tradition started with the 50th graduating class of 2013, alumni from the class celebrating their 50th reunion gives that year’s graduates a commemorative challenge coin. The challenge to the newest CBA alumni is to return with that coin in 50 years to hand out that year’s challenge coin. The Class of 2018 is challenged to return for the 2068 graduation.

The gentlemen from 1968 enjoyed a light reception at CBA after the graduation was completed.

On Friday evening, over 40 alumni from 1968, along with some spouses, attended the 50th reunion dinner & dance in the CBA Quinn Library. For those who have not been back to the Academy in some time, a tour was given to show the upgrades made to the school during the past 50 years.

The alumni enjoyed a three-course dinner, before dancing late into the night to the music from the terrific Black River Circus band, featuring 1968 alumnus Bill Wood.

Congratulations and welcome back to the Class of 1968!
