ELEVEN SENIORS RECOGNIZED AS BEING IN TOP 5% OF NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Christian Brothers Academy is very proud and pleased to announce that 11 seniors have been recognized for their outstanding academic achievement in the National Merit Scholarship program.
Over 1.6 million American students took the PSAT as a qualifying test last October; the 50,000 highest scorers were identified in April.  Of that number, 34,000 students who demonstrated their outstanding potential for academic success on this test have been named nationally as Commended Students. This places them in the top 5% of all students who took the PSAT’s.
The following members of the Class of 2018 have been named as Commended Scholars:
  • William Acken
  • Aidan Broderick
  • Declan Cooper
  • Dominic Esposito
  • Thomas Greenwald
  • Michael Guarino
  • Isaac Mercado
  • John Sheridan
Of the 50,000 highest scorers, 16,000 were designated as the highest achievers and have been named nationally as National Merit semifinalists.  From this number, 7,400 will ultimately be named Merit Scholarship winners.
The following members of the Class of 2018 have been named as National Merit semifinalists:
  • James Clabby
  • Daniel Draganoff
  • Peter Hegel
Congratulations to all of our recognized students, and we wish our National Merit semifinalists luck to ultimately be declared Merit Scholarship winners.
