Ties of Faith: Juniors Receive Commemorative 2021 Neckties

Each year, the junior class at Christian Brothers Academy gathers together for a special ceremony, one that signals the boys’ transition to upperclassmen.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Class of 2021 was presented with their customized neckties at the Junior Signum Fidei Ceremony.

Each tie represents a reaffirmation of commitment to completing their journey at Christian Brothers Academy, as “signum fidei” translates to “sign of faith.” As new upperclassmen, these young men more deeply understand their role in upholding the mission of CBA and living out the school motto of Religio, Mores, Cultura, which is found embroidered on each student’s tie. These 200+ students, who entered as freshmen boys in the fall of 2017, have demonstrated the desire to graduate as Academy men in the spring of 2021.

Throughout the ceremony, Academy men were reminded of their commitment to CBA’s virtues.

Guest faculty speaker Mr. Dave Santos ’85 reminisced on his days as an Academy student, and offered the juniors some advice he would give his younger self. Santos also stressed that most tasks that present themselves as difficult are typically worthwhile experiences. He challenged the juniors to grow through these obstacles during the next two years as CBA students.

Father John Zec blessed each of the neckties before Principal Ross Fales presented each junior class member with a tie, which is embroidered with “Class of 2021.”

The junior class, with their parents, enjoyed a special luncheon after the ceremony concluded.

Congratulations to the Class of 2021 on this special accomplishment!
