LANGUAGE LEARNING, BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

This past week, severals different language classes enjoyed some learning outside the classroom in several unique arts and culture experiences.

On Wednesday, students in Mrs. Viola’s freshmen honors English class took a trip to the NJ Shakespeare Theatre at Drew University. There they enjoyed a performance of Richard III and a tour of the First Folio exhibition, which is on tour from the Folger Shakespeare Library.

On Thursday, students in Señora Cordero-Cinko’s and Señora Widdis’s Spanish classes ventured to New York City’s Reportorio Español to see the production “En El Tiempo de Las Mariposas” (“In The Time of the Butterflies,” based on the novel relating an account of the Mirabel sisters and their stand against the dictator Trujillo in the Dominican Republic.) After, the students enjoyed some authentic Mexican tapas.

Both trips allowed our Academy men to gain an added appreciation and understanding of their coursework.
