Michael Ehnot ’18 Qualifies for High School Sailing National Championship

Michael Ehnot, a sophomore on the CBA varsity sailing team, finished third at the Mid-Atlantic Single-handed District Championship over the weekend to qualify himself for the 2015 High School Single-handed National Championship.

Ehnot bested 28 other sailors from high schools from New York to Virginia and was the sole CBA representative at the regatta. The podium finish will send him to Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Va. on Halloween weekend to sail in the annual Cressy National Championship, where he will compete in the Laser Radial division.

“I was happy to see all my hard work pay off,” Ehnot said. “I’m very exited for Norfolk. It’s going to be great representing CBA among the top high school sailors.”

The National Championship is capped at 18 of the best single-handed high school sailors from around the country. Ehnot is the first CBA sailor to qualify for the Single-handed National Championship since 2005.

“Congrats to Mike on this great accomplishment,” head sailing coach Jody Lutz said. “To achieve this as a sophomore, it shows his talent and we are excited to have him lead our team for the next few years at CBA.”
