Pegasus Theater, the summer theatrical program of Christian Brothers Academy, is proud to announce a new educational partnership with The Premier Theatre Company.
With the support of Pegasus students, Premier will be producing two shows at Christian Brothers Academy’s Henderson Theater this summer: “Footloose” in July and “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” in August. These two shows will complement the Pegasus production of “It’s Only a Play” taking place at the end of June.
This three-show summer season reestablishes the tradition of summer theatre excellence that was a staple at Christian Brothers Academy for many years. The theatre programs at CBA and Premier have undergone leadership changes over the last few years and collectively decided that an educational partnership between the two could reestablish the traditions of each while producing quality theatre through thoughtful instruction of the next generation of performers. This partnership will enable CBA students to learn from Premier professionals using a hands-on, collaborative approach—ultimately to produce the summer shows.
“We couldn’t be more excited about this partnership,” says Marcos Orozco, Director of Pegasus and CBA alumnus. “At Christian Brothers Academy, we strive to be a student-run organization where students are responsible for everything from construction to design to PR and more. We can now provide our students with an internship-like experience over the summer where they will learn the skills needed to fully take over during the school year and bring our program to the next level.”
Premier President John Sabatos adds, “Premier is thrilled to be able to reinforce their commitment to education with this opportunity. By giving students the chance to work with both theater and education professionals, we hope to not only share our skills and knowledge, but the pleasure of working as a community to advance the living arts.”
As the summer season takes shape, both companies are still looking for help. If you are interested in finding out more information about the program or want to be involved, email morozco@cbalincroftnj.org or info@premiertheatre.com.
