Students Awarded Seal of Biliteracy, Inducted into Language Honor Societies

As CBA celebrates World Language Week, nearly 100 students were welcomed into the World Language Honor Society on March 29 in Henderson Theater.

In addition to those added to the Honor Society, 75 students were awarded the Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing their excellent performance in world language. Seventy-one students were presented the Spanish Seal of Biliteracy, three students earned the French Seal of Biliteracy, and one student obtained the Latin Seal of Biliteracy. Two students impressively earned the Seal of Biliteracy in two languages: senior Nicholas Arena in Spanish and French and senior Mark Lopez-Ortiz in Spanish and Latin.

As per the state of New Jersey, the Seal of Biliteracy is awarded by the CBA Principal and World Language Department Chair to graduating seniors who have completed the requirements for graduation from Christian Brothers Academy and who also meet all of the marks for above average proficiency in English and a second language.
