Wong ’13 Lands Internship on Historic Catholic Univ. Project
December 11, 2017
Thomas Wong, a Christian Brothers Academy ’13 and Catholic University ’17 alumnus, was always set on taking his talents from Lincroft to Washington, D.C. – the home of Catholic University.
He planned on majoring in civil engineering, but never guessed he would have an internship opportunity of a lifetime during his time at Catholic.
Catholic University is known for its grand Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on campus grounds. For the better part of a century, the university has been working on completing the Trinity Dome within the Basilica. The Trinity Dome is the largest and most central dome at the National Shrine.
While witnessing the construction, Wong approached the project managers to inquire whether they could use a hand from a civil engineering major. He was hired, and three months later, Thomas would be standing eight floors above the platform deck while altar serving at the blessing of the Trinity Dome site.
