ANSWERING THE CALL: STUDENTS DONATE 22,000 ITEMS DURING FOOD DRIVE
November 22, 2016
Each Thanksgiving season, the students at Christian Brothers Academy are challenged during the annual food drive.
Every year, the school donation goal increases, and every year, the student body shatters that goal.
The 2016 Thanksgiving Food Drive saw 22,047 items donated by CBA students with some assistance from the generous faculty. The 22,047 items eclipsed the 12,000 mark that Principal Ross Fales challenged the students to meet at the start of the drive on October 24th.
The food drive is led by Mr. Tim Sewnig and Campus Ministry, but they receive plenty of help from Mr. Jim Speidel, who challenges his own freshmen homeroom to meet a certain goal. This year, Mr. Speidel’s homeroom donated over 10,000 items to the drive. In the nine years that Mr. Speidel has moderated a homeroom, his students have donated a remarkable 105,555 items in total.
Well done to our community for meeting the challenge year after year for a great cause!
