Colt PLUS Program

POTENTIAL – LEARNING – UNDERSTANDING – SUPPORT

Where students reach their learning potential through understanding and support

The Colt PLUS Program at CBA is an additional service for bright, college-bound students with specific learning needs. The Colt PLUS program is designed for highly motivated students with the cognitive ability to adhere to a college preparatory curriculum, but have educational needs that can make it difficult for them to achieve their potential without support.

Students in the PLUS program take all the same classes as CBA students without modifications, although certain accommodations may be implemented through a formal accommodation plan.  Homework load is not decreased nor is the curriculum altered.  Students will take a portion of their English class (I or II depending on their grade level) during the school year and complete it during the following summer.  This allows time for strategic instruction and support.

What type of student is a candidate for the PLUS program?
  • Highly motivated
  • Able to manage the demands of a college prep curriculum in a large class setting
  • Average to above average intelligence
  • No behavior problems which interfere with learning

The St. Benilde Program

Our St. Benilde Program, named for visionary and innovative Lasallian educator St. Benilde Pierre Romancon, offers the most intense level of academic support for highly motivated students committed to learning in a college preparatory environment. This program is specifically for those students who study in the area of literacy who may or may not have a diagnosed learning disability or other learning difference which interferes with their learning.

The St. Miguel Program

Our St. Miguel Program, named for Lasallian educator and prolific writer St. Miguel Febres Cordero provides those students who may or may not have a diagnosed learning difference and don’t require intensive academic support a venue to benefit from the development of academic skills and learning strategies to enhance their education.

Benefits of the PLUS program:

  • Further development of strengths and remediation of weaknesses identified through individual admissions testing
  • Coordinated support system between the Learning Consultant and a team of teachers.
  • Development of a deeper understanding of the student’s individual learning style
  • Teaching of appropriate strategies to support learning and how and when to apply them
