We understand that your son’s high school education is an important decision for your family and we appreciate that you are considering Christian Brothers Academy. As we review each applicant for admission, we take a comprehensive and holistic approach. While an assessment of each individual’s academic record is paramount in our process, we also look at the less tangible strengths of our prospective students – commitment to personal interests and activities and their demonstrated willingness to embrace a rigorous education. We know that the application process can seem daunting and we want to help. This document is intended to guide you through deadlines, requirements and important things to remember. The following items are required in order for the Admissions Committee to review your completed application. All documents must be received by the deadline stated above.
A completed application for incoming 9th grade students includes:
Completion of the Entrance Exam
An online student application filed via your School Admin Parent Portal account.
School report sent directly from your middle school
Official transcript with complete 6th and 7th grades. We also require grades from the beginning of 8th grade when they are available.
Any standardized testing taken in middle school
Letter of recommendation written by a 7th or 8th grade teacher. While not required, a letter of recommendation is strongly encouraged so that the admission committee can gain a better understanding of the student from an academic perspective.
Entrance Exam Requirements
For Incoming 9th Grade Students: We will hold two Entrance Exams at CBA this fall. Registration will be available online in late August and you may select the date which works best for your son.
Saturday, October 28, 2023- 8:00 AM -12:00 PM/12:30 PM
Saturday, November 18, 2023- 8:00 AM -12:00 PM/12:30 PM
Extended time will only be offered at both Entrance Exams.
Students who currently have an ISP, IEP or 504 and receive extended time on tests, should upload that plan into the Parent Portal when registering for the exam. Ms. Colannino, Director of the Colt PLUS Program, will evaluate the plan to determine whether your son will qualify for extended time on the Entrance Exam.
