Campus Ministry Launches “Challenge 300”

In honor of the 300th anniversary of St. John Baptist De La Salle’s birth into eternal life, new Director of Campus Ministry, Mr. Matthew Butler, has challenged CBA students to complete 300 hours of service between June 1, 2018 and June 1, 2019.

Throughout this next year, the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools will be celebrating their founder with events across the globe, which will include plenty of activities on the CBA campus as well.

All those who complete the 300 hours will earn a challenge coin and be recognized at the Lasallian Youth Convocation in June.

CBA students are getting a head start on the challenge this summer, with many service activities having already taken place. Mr. Butler accompanied 10 CBA students to Homestead, Florida in June for a service experience at a De La Salle Educational Center.

Academy men have also been on two trips to Asbury Park to deliver food for the homeless.

After a successful first night, CBA will also be hosting a second Lasallian Night of Service on Friday, July 27th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. All current students and incoming freshmen are welcome to join us in cooking for the homeless, preparing lunches for Asbury Park trips, sorting gently used clothes for the needy, and organizing food drive donations. The group is also in-need of school supplies for over 400 children in Monmouth County, which can be dropped off in the cafeteria during the night.

Before summer concludes, Campus Ministry is planning at least four additional trips to Asbury Park, as well as a trip to the Romero Center in Camden on August 9-12. Contact Mr. Butler (mbutler@cbalincroftnj.org) to get involved.
