THROWERS, SENIOR SPRINTERS CEMENT LEGACY AT NATIONALS

June 20, 2017
Coming off of a Non-public A State title win, CBA’s top Track & Field talent took a trip to the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, held in Greensboro, NC.
Rising seniors Kyle Foltz and Jack Lotosky competed in the Emerging Elite javelin. Lotosky placed seventh, and finished the year as the fourth best javelin thrower of all time in CBA history.
Rising senior Dan Mead placed seventh in the Emerging Elite discus, and 13th in the Championship shot put. On his last throw of the year, Mead hit a personal best of 59’2’’—which broke a 35-year-old junior year recordpreviously held by Mike Antico in 1982 (57’11). The season-making throw also puts Mead in good company as a top-30 returner in the country.

“To me, this is always the perfect way to end the outdoor season, and this year we came down here and did great,” said CBA throws coach Andrew Cusick. “Dan [Mead] had an amazing final throw that sets up his senior year very well. And the [CBA] 4×4 as usual was a blast to watch. Hopefully next year we can come down here and walk away with some medals.”
On the track, CBA’s 4x400m relay of Tim Jacoutot, Andrew Canale, Kyle Foltz, and Brendan Bodisch finished the season with a time of 3:21.85. Seniors Bodisch and Jacoutot enjoyed one final, fast-paced lap as Academy men—competing against some of the nation’s best—for an awesome, emotional sendoff.
“If the end of every year stings a bit, then we must be doing something right,” said Cusick when explaining the caliber of athlete coached by CBA’s Track & Field teams. “Jacoutot and Bodisch have been absolutely essential to our program. They were incredible teammates, incredible competitors, and incredible people. We’ll miss them tremendously.”
