While CBA Track head coach Karl Torchia would stress that a team effort is greater than an individual one, last Friday may been an exception. A special moment in program history took place during CBA’s Monmouth County Championship in which the storied program received yet another impressive achievement.
Thanks to his win in the 400-meter dash, senior Mike Zupko became the all-time points leader in CBA Track’s storied history.
The senior is no stranger to setting Track program records, owning school records in the 200m, 300m. and 400m dash as well as being part of the school record teams in the 800m relay and Sprint Medley Relay.
Just after Christmas, Zupko was a member of the Distance Medley Relay team that set the United States record at the Marine Corps Classic for fastest DMR time.
Zupko encompasses what it means to be a CBA athlete, both on and off the track. His talents, along with his top-notch attitude and effort, landed him as a Princeton University commit for next year’s season.
Zupko’s feat came during the Colts’ win at the Monmouth County Championship, where they beat second place Matawan by over 30 points.
Congrats to Zupko for accomplishing this tremendous feat!
