Marty Kenney, Jr.

The Christian Brothers Academy athletic department announced the hiring of Marty Kenney, Jr. ’90 as the new head baseball coach in August 2019. Kenney, Jr. has been an assistant coach for CBA on three separate occasions, including most recently from 2015 through 2019. Kenney, Jr. has played an integral role in coaching the Colts to plenty of success since 2015. He helped guide CBA to the 2015 Non-Public A State Championship, 2015 and 2016 Shore Conference Tournament titles, three Monmouth County Tournament wins, and three division titles. During the 2023 season his team captured the Tarboro Classic Tournament in N.C, the A North Division Championship and Coach Kenney was named the A North Coach of the Year.

From 1998 through 2005, Kenney, Jr. was the associate head coach at his alma mater, DeSales University. A nationally-ranked Division III program, he was a part of the coaching staff that led DeSales to seven-straight conference titles and a berth in the 2003 Division III College World Series.

During his coaching career at DeSales University, Marty was responsible for the design of yearly baseball camp, clinic and Training programs to benefit the recruiting and fundraising efforts for the baseball program. These programs were attended by youth and high school players throughout the east coast. Many of these programs he has continued to grow through the Kenney’s All-Shore Baseball program.

Marty is a 1990 graduate of CBA. While at CBA, Marty was an all-county, shore and state performer. He was named by Collegiate Baseball magazine, one of the Pre-season Top 50 high school players in the nation. Marty accepted a baseball scholarship to the University of Richmond during his senior season.
