Pegasus Cast and Crew Receive 11 Basie Nominations, Educational Impact Nomination

The students and faculty of Pegasus Production Company were honored to receive 11 nominations for the Basie Awards for their productions during the 2023-2024 school year. The nominations include those for the fall drama And Then There Were None and the spring musical The SpongeBob Musical. The Count Basie Center’s annual Basie Awards is a program modeled after Broadway’s Tony™ Awards, honoring excellence in high school theatre in Monmouth County.

“Being nominated by the Basie is truly an honor,” said James Nardiello ’24, an actor and the company’s PR director. “To see not only my hard work recognized with nominations, but also recognition for the hard work put in by everyone in the company, is an amazing thing. Even if we do not win the awards, it is still an honor to know that our incredible work is recognized by people outside of our company.”

In addition, the company was nominated for the Papermill Playhouse Educational Impact Award for The SpongeBob Musical. The Educational Impact Award recognizes “a school that extends their production into the curriculum in a meaningful way.”

“The students of Pegasus Production Company amaze me year after year and I am elated that they are once again receiving the recognition that they deserve,” said Director Mr. Marcos Orozco ’01. “This year’s nominations are a great example of how Pegasus Production Company is not only made of outstanding individuals but they also work together to create outstanding art.”

Congratulations to the cast and crew below for their Basie nominations. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony later this month.
